NSFW: CHRIS CROCKER TALKS ABOUT MASCULINE VS. FEMININE GAYS
Internet celebrity (and newly hairy) Chris Crocker, (who I sent a cute tweet to him after tweeting a recent pic of his newly plump ass) has been keeping plenty busy with his debut EP and a role on a new Don Johnson pilot recently uploaded a very interesting Youtube vlog about the descrimination in the gay community regarding masculine vs. feminine gays.
As someone who is in between masculine and feminine, I have to say people tend to pick on the more feminine gays because they're obvious to pick out. But I will also say that I have come across some gays who do over fem it up when they are in gay settings be it at clubs or since I am a native New Yorker if you go down to Greenwich Village to what we call the legendary "pier." We always talk a good game how we as gays want equal rights, but until we learn to embrace all of our LGBT brothers and sisters and stop discriminating and separating ourselves from one another, then that is when we can be truly free of ridicule and self-hatred. RuPaul's isn't always shouting his mantra "If you can't love yourself then how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else" for shits and giggles.
While I have seen documentaries such as The Butch Factor and The Adonis Factor tackle issues regarding beauty, and masculinity within the gay community, I have to say we need more out and proud gays who are not afraid to shatter stereotypes portrayed in the media as some would say one-sided. At the end of the day it all boils down to the overly butch Tomof Finland fantasy injected into our brains by the media since birth. Being big and strong is considered right, while being womanly or feminie is considered a sign of weakness, which should not only piss off feminine gays, but women as well. So unless change and diversity is made, you can't get mad when you see only over-the-top feminine gays all over your TV screen.
