JERSEY SHORE A NO GO IN ITALY
A few weeks ago it was reported that MTV was having issues with Italian powers-that-be in Florence, Italy, due to the fact that they didn't want the idiotic debauchery tainting their homeland. Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi even sent out a list of rules to producers, saying they didn't want them filming around any bars, clubs, or any public areas that would make their town look like booze central (which means each episode they'd shoot in Italy would last about 30 seconds).
Production was set to begin today on the fourth season of the smash-hit MTV show, which also stars Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “Jwoww” Farley, and tumultuous lovebirds Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro. But permits to shoot scenes in the famous Uffizi art gallery, the Boboli Gardens, and the Palazzo Vecchio — the symbol of Florence — were suddenly pulled, according to Italian press reports.
The show had already rented an elaborate townhouse for the cast to live in during the planned month-and-a-half shoot. Shooting for Jersey Shore has been suspended indefinitely until the "situation" (pun intended) is worked out.
I say move on from Italy - in fact, how about squash Jersey Shore altogether? Snooki & JWOWW have their own shows, and Pauly D as well as Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino have their own spin-offs in the works so why not focus on the spin-offs until you can come up with a 4th season plan B? I've said this a million times the only show I see working would be Pauly's because the idea for his show seems to be the only one that would be good and you wouldn't have to script and kooky shenenigans for, like say Snooki's and Mike's shows.
Update: The reason Jersey Shore has been delayed is because the president of Italy is visiting Florence, which would make it difficult for MTV producers to shoot. Production will resume later this week once the President leaves.
