UPDATE: LADY GAGA GIVES WEIRD AL SEAL OF APPROVAL OVER BORN THIS WAY PARODY

Yesterday I blogged about my outrage over Lady Gaga refusing to give Weird Al Yankovic permission to use his hilarious but true parody of Born This Way on his new album, because for some reason I believed she shat out her sense of humor the moment Alejandro flopped on the charts. After making a fuss over her refusal via his blog, TMZ is reporting that there was a misunderstanding regarding the track because Gaga has been so busy she didn't hear the track. "There must have been a misunderstanding because [Gaga] is in no way trying to block the release of the parody."

According to sources, "She's busy touring and hasn't heard the song yet. Her manager hasn't had a chance to play it for her yet" -- adding, "She's a huge Weird Al fan."

Gaga’s manager admitted he never sent Al's parody to Gaga.  Says Al, "Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that’s what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own."

Oh, and in case you're wondering...Gaga loves the song.

I’m thrilled on many levels to hear this, because 1) I truly respect and admire Gaga as an artist and it pained me to think of her as having less than a great sense of humor, and 2) it means I GET TO PUT OUT MY ALBUM!

When I heard about her refusal in the beginning, I thought she would have learned that being parodied by Weird Al would be an honor since he's spoofed some of the biggest celebrities in the last 25 years. I think the reason why she approved the track is not only because she wants to prove that she's not taking herself too seriously, but the moment she heard proceeds go to Human Rights Campaign she didn't want to stand in the way of that - especially since the gays is who she turns to for her everything. Looking forward to the video (which I'm hoping he wears an outfit made of lunch meat).
