HANGOVER STAR UP FOR LEAD IN THE CROW REMAKE

Heat Vision is reporting that actor Bradley Cooper (Alias, The A Team, The Hangover sequels) is in the running to star in Relativity Media's remake of The Crow.

Based on the comic created by James O'Barr, the reboot will focus on the character of Eric Draven (played in the 1994 original by the late Brandon Lee). It was rumored that Mark Wahlberg was in early talks to play the Crow, but it looks as if negotiations fell throug.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will direct from a script he wrote with Nick Cave. The trade says that Cooper met the director in Spain recently, "where the two hit it off and shared a vision for the character and the film."

Filming is targeted to start this fall.
I like Bradley as an actor, but sorry I don't see him as The Crow. I'm sure it's not going to follow the gothic feel of Alex Proyas' film, but I actually think it would work if they hired an unknown to play the role. No one really knew Brandon as an actor and The Crow turned out to be his breakout role - until he died in a freak accident on set. So what I will do is hold my tongue until I see the first frame of the remake to draw my own conclusion.
