MARIAH CAREY SAYS SHE REGRETS PERFORMING FOR GADHAFI
Days after being read for points regarding being among the few celebrities revealed to have made $1 million dollars for performing for members of Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi's family, Mariah Carey has sent out an apology for the mishap, and regrets ever being associated with him.
“I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess,” the pregnant songstress said in a statement to AP. “Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately, we as artists are to be held accountable.”
Yesterday Beyonce said she already donated money made from her private performance, and Mariah concluded she will donate the proceeds from her new song “Save the Day” to charities to create awareness for human rights issues. Singer Nelly Furtado was the first to go on record this week that she will cut a check for charity.
Next time Mimi pay attention to what's going on in the world and who you are accepting money from. I understand you mainstream celebrities are busy with your careers, but I'm sure you crack open a newspaper or watch the news. You've been in this business long enough to know better.
