GWYNETH PALTROW HAS STRONG EYES FOR MUSIC CAREER
It's not new news that in my opinion the always cold Gwyneth Paltrow has always flirted with putting out music here and there. She first got her feet wet over a decade ago when she remade the hit Cruisin' from the movie she starred in called Duets. Then after taking a break from the movie industry to raise her two children Moses and Apple with singer Chris Martin from Coldplay, she came out of nowhere last year with two music projects - first in an episode of Glee (a role in which she will reprise tonight) and in the Country movie flop Country Strong with Tim McGraw. Then last month she performed Forget You with Cee Lo at the Grammy's (and again at the Country Music Awards), which got many reporters asking the coy actress if she was considering a career in music?
On the red carpet at the Oscars last weekend, she responded with the following message, "We're talking about it now. So we'll see." as an answer to her musical aspirations, but Page Six is reporting that she's close to inking a deal with Atlantic Records to release an album of Country-pop songs.
"Gwyneth's agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal. Those who have heard the music say it's country pop. Many labels would be reluctant to give a deal to a star whose first priority is film, but in recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic. Gwyneth is a very different name for Atlantic, and one who brings a lot of recognition." Its roster includes Sean Paul, B.o.B, T.I., James Blunt, Janelle Monae, Zero 7, Phil Collins and Kid Rock
I don't understand how reluctant labels would be to giving an actor a record deal, when last time I checked it wasn't until after Jennifer Lopez did Selena that she even entertained the thought of wanting to be a pop star. How quickly they forget. Also, since Gwyneth is such good friends with Jay Z you would think it would be a sweeter deal if she worked with him, since he would protect her as hard as he protects Rihanna (although I think his protection of the Bajan beauty is starting to fade a bit). As for Gwyneth's music, I'm not a big country fan and I don't see this is something that will give her the status of, say, Carrie Underwood but if this is an aspiration of hers, and she saw all these live award show performances as a way of getting her feet wet in the music world, then more power to her.
