They say they go in threes, and it looks like the grim reaper is wasting no time coming for the industry legends. It has been reported that Oscar-winning actress Elizabeth Taylor died this morning at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She was 79.
"She was surrounded by her children -- Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton," Taylor's publicist, Sally Morrison, said in a statement.
“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love," her son Michael Wilding said in a statement. "Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.”
Taylor went to star in films such as National Velvet, Butterfield 8, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Cleopatra for which she became the first actress to be paid $1 million.
She also played an active role in AIDS research in her later years. TCM also announced that they will honor the actress by showing a marathon of her films on Sunday, April 10. You can check out the full schedule below...
