CHRIS BROWN APOLOGIZES ON 106 & PARK
Chris Brown stopped by 106 & Park and didn't phisically assault any windows when he was asked about his recent altercation at GMA on Monday after Robin Roberts asked him questions about Rihanna.
“First and foremost I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, anybody who was offended or really looked disappointed in my actions because I was disappointed in the way I acted,” he told hosts Terrence and Rocsi.
He went into further details on what happened. “A lot of people don’t know what went down. Obviously when I do shows and when I do interviews, we always send out a talking points sheet. And if the network isn’t compliant with what we want to do, we usually kind of back out and wait until it’s a better situation.”
While GMA and Roberts claim that Chris knew there would be questions asked abotu Rihanna, Chris claims he wasn't prepared for what was to come. “So when we actually did this event, everything was cool. The talking points were positivity and everything that was sent to me was about the album. As the interview proceeded, I was thrown off by it. I felt like they told us this just so they can get us on the show to exploit me. That’s what I thought. And so I took it very, very hard.”
He did admit that although he was visibly upset during the interview, he did wait until they stopped filming to express his frustrations backstage. “I kinda kept my composure throughout the whole interview, although you can see me upset. I did my performance and when I got back, I just let off steam. I didn’t physically hurt anyone. I didn’t try to hurt anyone. I just wanted to release the anger that I had inside me because I felt like I worked so hard for this music and I love my fans. I love to be able to make positive music, and I felt people kept just tryna take it away from me.”
Roberts, who did say she would like Brown to return to the show, told her side of the story to Gayle King.
“When people say why do you have to go back and talk about this—I can be doing an interview and people will talk about cancer I had three years ago,” she said. “There are always things in our lives, good and bad, that are milestones or something that people want to discuss, and when people ask me about that, there are some times where I’m like, ‘Why do we have to talk about my cancer?’ But I smile, I answer it, and move the conversation on.”
I'm sorry but I can't stand interviews where the artist is aware of every question that is about to be asked. As an artist you should be caught off guard with whatever questions are asked. If you know what's to come, how can the host keep the convo interesting if they can't improvise based on the energy being bounced off by both interviewer and interviewee? Chris cannot have a legendary reputation for acting like a wild child everytime he gets his way, and then expect no one to acknowledge the elephant in the room. If I had a talk show and I wasn't allowed to ask questions that everyone wanted to know but you want to act like the past never happened, then I don't need you on my program. I can find far more interesting people to bring in the ratings.
But on the flip side, while Chris needs to learn that he has to face the demons of his past in order to free himself of his inner critters to fully and positively embrace the future, I have to applaud him for doing what Justin Bieber has yet to do. I have never heard Lesbieber go on any network or online to tell his crazy stans not to hide behind their computers with their venomous fingers typing away at some 125 words or less death threats. Surround yourself with positive older role models (and I don't mean that industry vampire Diddy), focus on your career and get that temper under control, and you will be OK. You have been in this business long enough to know better. You can check out a bit of his 106 & Park interview (via ABC) where he addresses his stans to not send Robin Roberts any death threats below...
