SUPER BOWL HALF-TIME PERFORMANCES: BLACK EYED PEAS, SLASH, & USHER
Hey Black Eyed Peas, Tron called - they want their costumes back. If this is what the future will look and sound like in 3008, beam my ass to another future. Now don't get me wrong I love BEP's The E.N.D. album because it provides a great soundtrack to work out to and it had some really cool songs on it, but The Beginning still comes off as a Will.I.Am. solo record. They looked pretty tired onstage, Apl.De.Ap and Taboo have literally become background dancers, Fergie sounded a mess trying to hit those Xtina-esque high notes (did all them years of crystal meth usage fuck up your vocal chords? Maybe it's time you visit Whitney Houston's vocal coach since she sounded the best in years at the BET Gospel special last week). Also thanks for destroying a Guns N Roses classic Fergie Ferg. It also seems to me that Will.I.Am has become the Kim Kardashian of the group, making the futuristic concept and dated euro dance beats all about him and his vision. The mics were also louder than the music, so whoever was dealing with the audio and couldn't get it right needs to be fired.
Oh, and what was the point of Usher's tired ass being there? He pops up for a 20 second performance? They should have left his ass on tour. Unfortunately, he was busy charging $20,000 to rent a V.I.P. area at a party he was hosting. As I was watching Usher try to keep up with the brief time he was there it made me yearn for that Chris Brown comeback. Watching BEP also made me yearn for the days when we got a glimpse of Janet Jackson's titty. Maybe Usher sould have whipped out his dick and pissed all over Fergie's lit breast plate? The only positive thing I can say about the Half Time show is that Slash was good. Other than that I think BEP need to take a few months off and get some rest, because clearly they're a tired bunch.
