It looks like we can add Rihanna to the list of mainstream artists accused of thievery. The Bajan beauty along with that social vampire Perezite Hilton were accused by the legendary photographer/video director David LaChapelle of ripping off his colorful visual style for her latest video S&M. Radaronline is reporting that they became aware of the similarities between the video and LaChapelle’s work when staffers who handle his fan page, Twitter, and Facebook account called them to tell them they were receiving a lot of messages regarding the video.
If you have been a follower of LaChapelle's colorful masterpieces like I am, then you are well aware that he has collaborated with everyone from Courtney Love, Britney Spears, David Bowie, Lil Kim, transgender muse Amanda Lepore, Whitney Houston, Pamela Anderson, Madonna and Rihanna herself. When I watched the video for the first time it premiered online, for the life of me I couldn't put my finger on why the visuals look so familiar. Glad that David let it be known that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I feel he is taking his beef to the wrong people. I wouldn't expect Perez to put RiRi in blast for ripping someone off, since she put his fame whoring ass in her video. David needs to take his beef to Melina the video director. it's no secret that RiRi is the most obvious manufactured pop puppet in the business, and all she's here to do is dress pretty and sell Def Jam a bunch of singles like a queen alien shitting a thousand eggs. She wouldn't know David LaChapelle from David Bowie.
