KYLIE MINOGUE TALKS ABOUT SETTING THE BANCHMARK FOR LADY GAGA
If you read my blog on Kylie Minogue's Les Folies tour, then you are well aware of my rant about her being one of the most consistant live performers in pop. I also ranted about how many of the new generation of pop stars such as Britney, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and even Madonna owe a huge debt to Kylie setting the bar for her creatively extravagant live shows. I truly believe in ask, believe and receive because when you speak something into the universe, it comes to light. Kylie must have heard me spilling the tea in her defense because mama spoke to The Daily Mirror about how she set the bar for Lady Gaga to do what she's been taking for granted on stage for the past three years.
“I set the benchmark for Gaga. We’ve done it before, with all our creative shows, and now the new artists are following us.”
“She inspires me and I love what she does. But we’ve done it before. I had the Aphrodite theme and no one has done that before. Think outside the box is what I do, and that’s what keeps it fresh for me. I set the benchmark and now I can’t wait to see what the new talent will do next.”
I love how Kylie was throwing no shade, but credit has to be given where it's due. I have to agree that no one is doing the ideas that Kylie is using on her Les Folies tour, and it's refreshing to see something different. Note to all the new pop stars: There's nothing wrong with digging deep and thinking outside the box. The goal is to set trends, not rehash what's been done before. I just wish Kylie had the same conviction she puts into her live shows into her single choices, because like I said before Cupid Boy and Can't Beat the Feeling deserves to be a damn single.
Sidebar: If you haven't seen it yet, check out the latest episode of the VEVO series Ask:Reply featuring a one on one interview with La Minogue as she talks about her Les Folies tour.
