CARLOS LEON TALKS LADY GAGA VS. MADONNA

Actor, Carlos Leon stopped by Joy Behar's HLN talk show last night during her pop stars segment andtalked about the recent controversy of Lady Gaga ripping off Madonna's Express Yourself with her latest single Born This Way. Leon is the father to Madonna's 14-year-old daughter Lourdes.
Joy played a tape of Lady Gaga on the Jay Leno show on Valentine’s Day, during which Lady Gaga says that Madonna and “her people” sent her an email showing support for the single, which everyone in the blogosphere is currently hating. It also baffles me that since she's being so vastly criticized how “Born This Way. has shattered iTunes in less than a week.  Lady Gaga waved her arms ceremoniously and said: “If the queen says it shall be, it shall be.”

After playing the clip, in typical Joy fashion she quipped, “She looks like she just stepped out of a crypt.”

Jessica Coen, editor-in-chief of Jezebel.com and comedian Chuck Nice also joined Joy’s panel to discuss whether “Born This Way” is a complete rip-off of Madonna 20 years ago or a homage to her legacy.

First Joy talked with Carlos Leon, the father of Madonna's oldest child:

Joy: "Carlos, you and the 'queen' -- Madonna -- were an item. In fact you have a child, Lourdes. Now you know Madonna. Lourdes looks like you a little bit ..."

Carlos: "Good"

Joy: "So we know it really was you."

Carlos: "It was me, definitely me."

Joy: "She looks a lot like you."

Carlos: "Well, thanks."

Joy: "Do you think that Madonna cares? And what do you consider that? Did you see it?

Carlos: "I did"

Joy: "Do you think it's a rip-off or an homage?"

Carlos: "I think it's, you know, she was inspired -- she's so much inspired by Madonna that, you know, I think that she takes bit and pieces of her and I don't think it's a rip-off. It's just -- she's such a big fan, you know."

Joy: Yeah, I think it's a compliment."

Carlos: "Yeah, exactly."

Chuck Nice brought up Lady Gaga saying she took 10 minutes to write the song and he thought "That makes sense cause Madonna wrote it first so it should only take 10 minutes."

Jessica Coen said Lady Gaga's entire career "is an homage to Madonna."

I watch Joy's HLN show everyday, so when I saw that Carlos was going to be on the show I was beyond excited. The man still looks good and it was great to see him give good talk to Joy even though it was a panel segment. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I liked Lady Gaga in the beginning, when she was creative and all about the art. She had pretty good tunes as well - very catchy. But when you've made so much money and have become a global superstar in two short years, I feel she's lost insight into the creative process of who she is. I feel she's lost sense of reality a bit, and crazy ass Laurie Ann with her incubation talk on the Grammy red carpet didn't help matters much. I also felt she went about like the fairy gay godmother coming down from the sky to liberate all us bullied and disenfranchised homosexuals from the big bad descriminators. I'd be all for the ride if the song was good, but compared to Bad Romance, LoveGame, Just Dance, and all her other hits, the lyrics for Born This Way are contrived, juvenile, and just plain bad. The new alien egg Gaga doesn't measure up to the Gaga we all loved in the beginning, and when you've hyped yourself up to be the best pop star on the planet with the world at your fingertips, the stakes are high. And you have no one to blame for the backlash but yourself since you as well as the Haus of Gaga created this "monster" (pun intended).
