BJORK'S NEW ALBUM INSPIRED BY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
It's been four years since we've gotten new music from Bjork, and according to Icelandic newspaper Fréttabladid, the singer's follow-up to Volta is almost done. She wouldn't divulge too much details on what the album will sound like, but she did say the new material was inspired by a conference she attended that was organized by National Geographic magazine.
"I saw 100 talks and met eccentric people who had been in Africa for four years with lions and insects," she said. "Then one night after drinking whiskey with them I began to hear stories. This is one of the collaborations I can talk about." Right...
Bjork plans to premiere some of the new tracks live on tour at the end of the year, which means we might not get a new album from her until about early 2012. I love how everyone talks about how innovative Gaga is, but her music and aesthetic will never come a smidgen to what Bjork has and will ever do. So while we tirelessly await the arrival of a new Bjork album, now that I am in a mood for her music, check out some of my faves below...
