I will admit in the beginning I dismissed the series The Game as another one of those unfunny negro sitcoms you always see embarrassingly on the CW or on TBS like Are We There Yet. But boy was I wrong. After BET wisely resurrected the series from cancellation (from the CW mind you), I happened to catch an episode of The Game while I was getting my haircut in the West Village (yes bitches - I live in Queens, but travel to another borough get ma hurr did) and I chuckled a few times. The show has great acting from Wendy Raquel Robimson, Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, the very sexy Hosea Chanchez, and Coby Bell (who also can be seen on another favorite show of mine Burn Notice). it also has superb writing, which tackles everything from extramarital affairs (which ended up in a pregnancy), an older woman dating a younger man, and a closeted football player. The only misstep with the series is that it at times doesn't know if it wants to be a sitcom or a dramatic series with funny moments, and if this were the series debut i would say it should be a show with no laugh track, but The Game has been on for so long, i feel those who haven't seen it yet should definitely check it out. BET is running a marathon all day until it's season premiere tonight at 9pm.
