It loks like my campaign for True Blood's Joe Mangianello to get the role of the Man of Steel has been short-lived, because director Zack Snyder has announced today that he has chosen English actor Henry Cavill to portray the iconic hero and don the classic reds and blues. Cavill will also star in the upcoming film Immortals, and recently starred on the now-cancelled Showtime series, The Tudors. Christopher Nolan along with his brother Jonathan will be producing the film, while David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Blade trilogy) will be writing the screenplay. I'm a big fan of Zack's, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what he brings to the Superman franchise as well as his next film Sucker Punch. Now the next question should be, who should play Lois Lane?

Also here is Christopher Nolan, who is 12 weeks away from shooting The Dark Knight Rises had to say about the Superman reboot. Also I ask this question. With Welsh actor Christian Bale playing Batman, Australian actor Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine, English actor Andrew Garfield as Spider Man and previously mentioned British actor Eddie Cavill playing Superman, how do you feel about non-American actors playing our superheroes?

Cavill is a great choice… his work is The Tudors was substantial, even though it wasn’t scene-stealing. You can see potential, and he has the masculinity and ‘unknown’ quality that you need for Superman.
Aesthetically speaking I feel he embodies what Superman has to offer. As for range, we shall see what he can bring to the forefront since he will be the new face of the Superman franchise. hopefully it will elevate his career like Christian Bale's and less like Brandon Routh's. Hollywood has not been kind to actors who have worn the big red and blues. Tom Welling should be worrying as well.
