In the words of Xtina, Usher wasn't himself tonight when he cut his OMG tour short yesterday in Berlin, sending fans who came to see him home pissed. He has postponed the Wednesday show due to an unspecified illness, but he promised his fans he would give them the show they were hoping for. He returned to the stage last night and tried to deliver on his promise, but his body wasn't up to the task. He managed to make it through a few of his songs, lip synching them and taking frequent breaks.
The final straw that broke the camel's back was when Usher sang the wrong song and dazily went to take a break on the stairs and was met my a throng of boos from his impatient audience.
“After consultation with doctors, he has been advised to reschedule the upcoming dates in order to get the rest he needs to ensure a complete recovery,” said a rep for the R&B superstar.
Usher even took the time to apologize to his disappointed fans in a statement. “I deeply regret having to reschedule the shows. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience I have caused my fans. My fans are the best in the world and I am looking forward to getting better so that I can give them the show they deserve.”
I understand that so many of the veteran performers are trying to compete with Lady Gaga's touring sales (since we all know she's not even human), but when your body is telling you that you need to rest, you need to listen to your body. I understand the music industry is in disarray and the suits are looking to the five mainstream artists they bank on to bring in some large revenue. I also understand the fans don't care if you are sick since they are paying to see you, but they also need to realize that celebrities are human too - even when they try to act like they're not.
