REAL HOUSEWIVES PRODUCER LAUNCHES NEW BLACK GAY REALITY SERIES

While everyone is pretty much bitching about the negative portrayal of gays on LOGO's hit reality series The A List, and the lack of black folk on that show (you know a sassy black queen would have had all those girls clutching their pearls), we finally have a show that will give those uninteresting vapid queens a run for their money. Princess Banton-Lofters, producer of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has launched a new reality series called 'Tha Life Atlanta', which follows the lives of five openly gay black men living in Atlanta.

Jason Dinsmore of BE Entertained had this to say about the show: "While this definitely steps outside of the typical “heels & handbags” gay stereotype, it’ll leave lots of people talking about how they get down in Atlanta. BE ready for the drama, fierce altercations, and a bunch a FABULOUSNESS!,"

"They all come from different walks of life including doctors, dancers, and professional clubbers, but the one thing that they all have in common (Besides being gay males) is that they are all extra FAB!,"he adds.

I will admit I was getting a bit gaggalicious over the over-the-top stereotypes of gays on RHWOATL. While Lawrence is a hoot, the fact that he and Derek J. wear heels and carry a handbag made me uncomfortable. I absolutely cannot wait to see this show. I think it's about time that not only we had out and proud people of color on TV, but we also had men who didn't fit the stereotype floundering about in the media. I wonder what network will pick it up? BET? Centric? TV One? I'm not going to even waste my breath with including LOGO, since we all know what became of the hit series Noah's Arc. Now can we get the New York verson going so I can star on it? Check out a cast video screening below...
