LINKIN PARK RECORDING FOLLOW-UP TO A THOUSAND SUNS
After A Thousand Suns failed to make the huge impact rock music so desperately needs right now, Linkin Park are heading back into the studio to record a new album. Their latest album has so far gone gold in the U.S. alone, which, if you have six members in a band and are used to selling millions of records it's not actually good numbers.
“I like where we’re at right now,” the group’s Mike Shinoda said during a conference call with reporters. “Creatively I feel like the band is really energized…We are really trying to get focused on getting in the studio as often as possible…It’s definitely on our minds that we want to be trying to write as much as we can.”
“We’re always writing,” he notes. “I think we benefit from the fact that the music recording and writing technology has gotten so compact and so easy to carry around in your laptop. I keep getting emails from the guys in the band saying, ‘Hey, you want to get together and write some stuff? What are you up to? Are you bringing your gear on the road?’ I expect on this next run they’ll be knocking on my hotel door looking to collaborate on some ideas. It’s definitely a creative time for us; hopefully that means the next record is in the words.”
I also have to admit I love old Linkin Park where their music was catchy and it allowed to get my rage out whenever I got pissed off. A Thousand Suns was too artsy and in my eyes a dud. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good art record if it's from someone like Fever Ray or Bjork - but I've never bought LP as that kind of band.
Hopefully on their next album we'll get some of those surefire hits we LP fans have been craving.
