Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the action heroines of "Charlie's Angels" will return to this fall.
The original show focused on three women who worked as a team of private investigators, receiving their orders from the mysterious Charlie Townsend (voiced by John Forsythe, but whose face was never revealed).
The popular series ran for five seasons and, was revamped as a successful movie in 2000, starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. The 2003 sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle - not so good.
Barrymore's Flower Films will produce the new series (alongside Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Juvonen) and EW notes that "Gossip Girl"'s Mark Piznarski is in negotiations to direct as the series moves into the casting stage.
The storyline of the original series will remain the same, while the location will be updated to take place in Miami rather than Los Angeles.
I'm thinking Burn Notice with sexy ladies, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Or in the vibe of some of my other favorite shows such as the CW's Nikita, 24. Alias or the Hawaii 5-0 reboot on CBS. I'm feeling stronger towards the latter. Air the pilot after Dancing With the Stars or on Sundays after Desperate Housewives. Also, with Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough on board, the show is in good hands. Who do you guys think would make good Angels? My choices would be Michelle Rodriguez, Summer Glau, and Katie Cassidy.
