VIDEO: SAM SPARRO - PINK CLOUD
Sexy Aussie pop singer Sam Sparro returns to the dancefloor with "Pink Cloud," the first single from his forthcoming EP that he plans to release for free before his sophomore album "Return to Paradise" hits stores. The minute I heard Pink Cloud, it took me back to the 90's when I was in junior high school and house music was all the rave on New York radio. I also immediately thought of the Party Girl soundtrack, which is a film I've seen a gazillion times. Says Sparro:
"I wanted to something purely artististic before the album's release as a tribute to artists I loved arists like Masters at Work, Black Box, Maurice Fulton, and Todd Terry. The song is a tribute to the house music I grew up with. It's the first time I've released a single where I'm not the featured vocalist."
Now that artists have gotten the 80's out of their system, the sounds that Blackbox, Cathy Dennis and Snap! made famous is making a big comeback. I still listen to his self-titled debut, and "Black & Gold" and "Clingwrap" are still my favorite tracks to have on repeat. I love the 90's dance beat but I would have preferred to hear Sam's fierce vocals over this song.
