Word on the street is that Heather Morris, best known for playing the ditzy cheerleader Brittany Pierce on the hit FOX series Glee may be in the running to play the title character in the upcoming controversial movie reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While screenwriter Whit Anderson denied the news on his Twatter, Heather gave her response when asked by Access Hollywood:
"They're considering me! I found out and I almost peed my pants 'cause I was so excited! If they make ['Buffy'] when ['Glee'] is on hiatus, I don't even care what I do, I can just run through the shot and do nothing – even if I'm not Buffy!"
The new year is right around the corner, and I'm sure the script is being written as we speak, especially if they're looking to film the Buffy movie in 2012. If they are looking at Heather to play the new Buffy (she was previously played by Kristy Swanson in the horrible movie version, and then Sarah Michelle Gellar in the stellar TV series), they might want to have a script done in time when Glee goes on it's summer hiatus. Personally I'm still pissed that Joss Whedon, who singlehandedly saved Buffy from becoming the joke it was in the original film is not a part of the reboot. As for Heather I think she's a great choice to play Buffy. Not only because of the cheerleader connection on Glee, has great comic timing, but she can dance (something that will help her pick up the fight choreography quicker than a girl with no dance or martial art training). I just pray at the end of the day it turns out to be a cool horror/action film with witty dialogue and doesn't fall into the trap of crapola like the Twilight series.
