Nicki Minaj has remained mum regarding her beef with Lil Kim (most recently on the Wendy Williams show), Nicki Minaj refused to hold her tongue when asked about the drama on Angie Martinez's radio show.
As many might have heard, this beef has been going on ever since Kim felt Nicki came along and swagger-jacked her look and style and is now the hottest femcee in the game. Kim felt Nicki should pay homage to the women who paved the way for her to be where she is today, and most recently was at a Queens club reading Nicki for points in her own hometown. “I will erase this bitch’s social security number. First of all, I don’t even need a record right now and I’d kill that bitch with my old shit.”
Nicki addressed the beef on her latest single "Roman's Revenge" with Eminem which includes the sample lyric, “Nicki, she’s just mad ’cause you took the spot/ Word, that bitch mad ’cause I took the spot?/ Well, bitch, if you ain’t shittin’, then get off the pot.”
So when Ange asked Nicki about the Roman's Revenge retort, Nicki explained why she took it to the mic: “She just really jumped out the window and you got to be careful when you pick fights. I think people get me mistaken with a real Barbie. They forget where I’m from and if I have to revert back, I can and I will."
Harajuku Barbie continued, “It’s one of those moments where you say, ‘Don’t play with me,’ because I respect you, I love you, I’ve said it in every interview time and time again, and if that’s not good enough with you mama, then it’s something deep rooted in you. Something is bothering you inside. That’s your insecurity bothering you. [If] it’s not Nicki Minaj, it would have been any girl that started poppin’. She picked a fight with Foxy [Brown], then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy [Ma], then it was Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj. Everytime you in the news is ’cause you gettin’ at somebody. Where’s your music? Put your music out. When I see your name on Billboard, that’s when I’ll respond to you. Other than that, goodbye.”
Nicki took a step back outside herself to see why Kim has so much dislike for her, and believes that Kim is jealous that Nicki has all the love and success she so desperately wants: “You wanna know what scares people? Success. When you don’t make moves and when you don’t climb up the ladder, everybody loves you because you’re not competition. When you become competition, the people start, ‘Wait, hold on, wait, wait.’”
After hearing her interview with Angie Martinez, and her recent interview with Wendy Williams, I've got alot more respect for Nicki Minaj. I've said this many times over when it comes to any beef. Take it to the mic, and settle it through music. This back-and-forth beefing in public is so 1998. If you think you're hotter than Nicki then hook up with a hot producer, go in the booth and slay a bitch. Nicki has taken the best pieces of all the females that have come before her, found a work ethic that's non-stop, and has become the most buzzed about artist in the game. I'm a Kim fan but this beefing with every female that comes out is getting real old. Nicki's really making me a fan of her as an artist not because of the music, but because she spoke the truth.
