DR. LUKE TALKS NEW BRITNEY ALBUM

Hit producer-of-the-moment Dr. Luke, who has worked with everyone from P!nk to Katy Perry was a guest speaker at Billboard's film & TV Music Conference recently, and during the panel discussion, he was asked about Britney Spears' upcoming album (in which he will serve alongside Max Martin as co-executive producer).

“She’s an icon,” said Luke Gottwald of Spears. “She’s been around for a while and always delivers, so there’s a lot for us to live up to.”

Luke went on to say that while he and Brit Brit haven't logged in studio time, he does have a few ideas up his sleeve that will take her sound to a whole new level.
“I want [the sound] to get harder in some ways,” he continued, “and maybe a little more deep into electronic — grimier.”

I think that's a great idea. With recent work with so many producers including Danja, William Orbit, Pharrell recently talking about working on new Britney music (as the Neptunes), and now Max Martin (who served La Spears with her biggest hits) as well as Dr. Luke putting all the pieces together, Britney's new album could be the best album ever from the pop tart. I've always like Britney darker and edgy, a period she flirted with briefly on In The Zone and Blackout. The girl's damn near 30 so she needs to bring it with the choreography, some maturity lyrically while maintaining the sexy sassy Britney that we've grown to love, take voice lessons so she can have some stamina on stage, and bring something to the table that doesn't sound too safe like most of the cheesy watered-down dance music we hear on the radio right now. Ever since the Neptunes and Britney created magic with Slave 4 U, I've been hoping they would collaborate again. Seriously with the current (but not set in stone) line-up on the new Brit Brit record, this is going to be the sickest album on 2011. Britney's new album will be in stores sometime this coming spring 2011.
