As usual Top 40 radio is filled with mediocre pop stars trying to be cool and hip with their pitchy vocals and middle-of -the road songs. While there were plenty of cricket-worthy performances, there were some that took me by surprise. Rihanna for the first time since promoting the hell out of her fifth CD sounded pitch-perfect (being that the backing track was "LOUDER" than she was) and even loosened up onstage for the first time (I like when RiRi Beals in her Flashdance wig) cuts a rug onstage with her back-up dancers. Mama even took it to the motherland throughout her set. Pink raised her glass (and the roof) while donning a pair of "Hammer" pants. Enrique Iglesias almost lost me when he started lip-synching his new single "Tonight" but then redeemed himself when he (and Pitbull) got their party on with his summer hit "I Like It." Usher performed his overplayed single "DJ Got Us Falling In Love" and got mayjah points in the dance world by having my current DJ obsession Swedish House Mafia werqing the beats.

Ke$ha proved no one does white trash better than she does when she had her back-up dancers and singers don Billy Ray Cyrus' hairdon't during "We R Who We R." At the halfway point of the song, Ke$ha brought out the ladyboys again, as she previously did on Australia's X Factor. Katy Perry voice refused to go where it needed to as she performed yet another pitchy vocal of her new one "Firework." Don't these artists realize the minute they step out of their vocal abilities (which can always be corrected in the studio) they eventually have to sing these songs live?

Diddy Dirty Money - Coming HomeDirty Money's "Coming Home" made me think of home until Diddy opened his mouth. That queen can ruin an erection. Dirty Money would so work as a group if they had a convincing rapper at the helm. Diddy's performance was so 1998. I'm still on the fance about the new Black Eyed Peas single (dunno if I like it or if it's the most annoyingly watered-down dance song out right now), but I did enjoy the dancers with the boxes on their heads. Kind of makes you wonder is that how Will.I.Am has sex?

Oh and what made my night was seeing two of pop's biggest boybands NKOTBSB close the show and prove they still have it. Not going to talk about who won because by the time 2011 comes around, we won't remember anyway. So in case you missed it last night, I've posted the best of the best (as best and safe as the mainstream artists are willing to be).
