I have some bad news for Spartacus fans. Due to star Andy Whitfield's severe battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma., Starz has officially started looking for a new Spartacus on Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
Producers are searching for a Caucasian male in his mid- to late-30s to play the title role. Actors must have an authentic British accent and be prepared to sign a three-year contract.
As previously reported, Whitfield could not film the second season when his cancer, which was briefly in remission suddenly returned. While a six-part Spartacus prequel titled, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena will air in January 2011, producers were struggling between either doing a "recast or cancel the series altogether."
