SISTER ACT HEADING TO BROADWAY

We all knew this was coming. After a successful run in the U.K., word on the street is that the hit movie Sister Act is heading to Broadway.  Sister Act: The musical, which has a score by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, will be directed by Jerry Zaks, a consultant on the Broadway incarnation of "The Addams Family." It is to begin previews on March 24 with an opening night set for April 20. No casting was immediately announced for the show's Broadway run, but how about Lauryn Hill as Sister Mary Clarence? She’s been getting her feet wet in the music game recently, and since she is not only a singer and actress (and also starred in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit), this would be a perfect role for her. If he turns down the role, how about the original actress who played Celie in the Color Purple musical? In the meantime, check out my favorite scene from Sister Act below:
