For every Smallville there's a Birda of Prey Word on the street is that David E. Kelly (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) is looking to reboot Wonder Woman into a live action television series.
A Wonder Woman series would presumably aim to fill the gap that will be left when the long-running "Smallville" ends it's tenth and final season. So does this mean the amazon princess could make a cameo in Smallville's final season? It is unknown whether "Wonder Woman" would even be used as the show's title. Wonder Woman was a series once upon a time for three seasons in the 70's, with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and her alter ego, Diana Prince. There have been many tries to get Wonder Woman in the theaters, but apparently there's not enough lore out there that a really good screenwriter can't take a moment and bang out a great screenplay on the level of Iron Man and X:Men 2. Should the series make it beyond the planning stages, Kelley's take on Wonder Woman wouldn't necessarily preclude the character from also appearing in an, as Superman Returns did with the unrelated "Smallville".
Personally I have yet to see David Kelly spawn a hit outside the lawyer realm he's known for. I can't see him creating a series about a superhero and changing it up to the point that the original lore is non-existant. I also don't understand how people are having a hard time making this into a live action movie? There's even rumors that Black Wido will get her own film before Wonder Woman does. If Joss Whedon was behind bringing this development, then i wouldn't be too worried. It's also got me wondering will we get the classic WonderWoman where Lynda Carter wore the iconic costume, or will we get a rebellios girl dressed all in black (aka the new WW makeover) and they'll save her iconic costume for the final scene of her tenth season?
While we all wait in anticipation, let's get into the theme song below:
