According to Heat Vision, after many rumors and much speculation, director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Dawn of the Dead) will helm the next Superman reboot. Snyder was supposed to direct Superman Returns back in 2008, but he turned it down and instead worked on bringing Watchmen to the big screen.
"They asked me to direct a Superman movie, and I said no," was Snyder's response more than two years ago, "He's a tricky one nowadays, isn't he? He's the king daddy of all comic-book heroes, but I'm just not sure how you sell that kind of earnestness to a sophisticated audience anymore."
As I reported last week, the new script was written by comic book veterans David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. with Christopher Nolan producing. The film is expected to enter theaters in late 2012.
Snyder's Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is currently playing in theaters and his next film, Sucker Punch, comes out on March 25th.
I think this is great news, since Zack definitely breathed some life into the horror and sci-fi genre. i loved his remake of Dawn of the Dead, and I enjoyed 300. I have mixed views on Watchmen - simply because I loved the graphic novel, but i would have liked him to have taken the book to the next level instead of trying to stay too faithful to the graphic novel. It hurt the film financially in the end. The trailer for Sucker Punch looks awesome, so I'm sure with the Nolan brothers and David Goyer behind this reboot, it should be a great movie. Now what Dave needs to do is revive the Blade films with Michael Jai White since Wesley Snipes is in jail.
