Rumors are swirling over at Def Jam that LA Reid has been fired, and The Dream has been given his walking papers. According to reports, the two execs were put out on the curb due to disappointing sales figures and exuberant spending. While it is still being reported that LA is still at Def Jam, the internet is still abuzz that there was a termination. Allhiphop.com is reporting that Chris Lighty of Violator Management may be moving into the Def Jam building to take their place. Lighty is a Hip-Hop dude who has been in the game for a long time, and has a firm grip on business and also understands how to nurture artists. Chris has given us such talent as Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott, and Busta Rhymes, so trust - he knows what he's doing. If this is true this may be a good move on Def Jam's part, but I wonder; we all know Rihanna's "Loud" is a definite go for November, what what will be come of new records by Jennifer Lopez, Redman, Ne*Yo and Ludacris? As for Dream - you better get to producing some big hits for Beyonce and hope they sell, because you got alot of child support payments to pay. I will keep you posted as this story develops.
