As reported, the Idol producers have said that they would announce the final judges during mid-September, and like clockwork they delivered. According to USWeekly, after will-she-or-won't-she rumors circulated that Jennifer Lopez would join American Idol, it has been officially confirmed that she will indeed sit at the judge's table. It was reported that many of her diva deluxe demands was that she wanted to get $15 million plus develop film and television projects for FOX. They took one look at her filmography, threw their heads back and let out a loud, Aziz Ansari-esque laugh that he did at the VMA's before introducing Kanye and was like "no bitch, try again."
So after going back to the negotiation chamber, Jen and her manager Benny Medina settled for $12 million and no production deal. Jen will sit alongside Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson as permanent judges.
In theory I thought adding JLo to the show was a good idea, but the more I think about it I think it's a terrible idea. Sure her new whopping paycheck will keep her in Louboutins for a year (unless the new judges turn off viewers so much Fox finally decides to cancel this show for good), but personally, Jennifer is a studio singer. Yes Steven will bring the crazy, Randy, as usual will take up space, but what could she possibly bring to the table? For someone who's vocals are about as thin as a thimble has no authority to judge anyone's singing. The deal's done, and there's nothing I can do to fully criticize, so I will wait until they new kids hit the main stage before I give my full critique. I know somewhere, Mimoo is screaming mad she didn't get the gig.
