Following the same formula as Chris Brown, Usher, and Kelly Rowland, Rihanna is the latest mainstream pop star to shoot two videos back-to-back. Lead dance single "Only Girl (In The World) was shot by director and frequent collaborator Anthony Mandler, who has shot thirteen of RiRi's videos. He is to Rihanna what Dave Meyers is to P!nk. Rihanna was also spotted in New York over the weekend shooting urban single “What’s My Name,” with director Philip Andelman, who shot vdeos for Maxwell, Beyonce, Jay Z, and Gossip. No workd on when we'll see both videos, but I'm guessing long before the November release of "Loud."
Personally speaking, I wish American markets would stop sectioning music into categories, and stop trying to market music for certain demographics. People who listen to hip hop and R&B do go to the clubs and enjoy dance music. If people only enjoyed one genre of music, there would be no need for iPod playlists. Second, Rihanna's stylist should be fired for thinking that Raggedy Ann wig look cute on her big ass head. I know you've become pretty fearless with your sense of style, but personally I think it's time to head back to the lab for a new look because you're poorly channeling a bootleg Harajuku girl.
