After a 19 second sneak peek and a Madonna-Erotica inspired single cover, Here is your first listen to Christina Aguilera channeling her inner Little Boots with the infectuous, Britney-esque first single from Bionic called 'Not Myself Tonight'. The track was produced by Polow Da Don and written by Ester Dean. Before lazy music listeners start pointing fingers to Christina biting off of Lady Gaga, this sounds like nothing Gaga has done. Not Myself Tonight actually sounds like a track that would have been a perfect fit on Britney's Blackout album (stripper pole and all). My mind is racing a thousand miles a minute on what they could possibly come up with for the video. My only issue wit hthe track is I feel she's singing too hard over the electro pop beat. I've said many times over in order to take on music like this you have to have a soft, sexy and sassiness to your voice like Roisin Murphy, Little Boots or Britney. Here is what Xtina had to say about her inspiration behind Bionic:
"I really went into this record wanting it to be a fun and playful experiment," she says. "Being a new mom, I'm seeing things differently through my son's eyes. I wanted to go with a very futuristic sense of everything ... it's almost like getting to also be a kid again."
Glad to see there's a mainstream pop star who doesn't takeherself and her music too deriously. Christina, you've got yourself a club bangaaaah!
