After all the will-she-or-won't-she talk, it's finally been confirmed that mediocre singer-actress Jennifer Lopez has joined the Def Jam Records family while out promoting her new film The Back-up Plan.
Hitfix’s Greg Ellwood asked Lopez “Are you signing with Def Jam” on Monday during an interview for “The Back-Up Plan” and she said yes, not once, but twice, smiling about the prospect. Word on the street is that L.A. Reid who signed her to her contract will be very hands-on with her upcoming new album. So now that L.A. Reid is in charge, Jen's Love? album will get some current dance hits added to the album instead of the outdated Louboutins and horrible mid-tempo tracks she worked on before. She's currently recording some brand new tracks with both Danja and Tricky Stewart’s RedZone team.
I'm sure you all know it's no big secret that Jenny from the block & Mimi Kitty don't get along. I'm sure Mariah will understand that at the end of the day it's just business and who knows, maybe JLo being signed to the same label will finally light a fire under Mariah's ass to finally make a damn hit! I feel Epic as well as Jennifer had no idea where to go musically with her career, so maybe since Rihanna is the only one currently making money for Def Jam, L.A. can get her on the right track.
