DREAM TEAM ALL ABOARD FOR SCREAM 4

David Arquette stopped by Lopez Tonight, where he revealed that Wes Craven has reprised his role as director for Dimension Films' Scream 4, which will start shooting this spring in Michigan for a April 15, 2011 release date. Scream 3 hit theaters ten years ago on February 4, 2000.

Returning to the horror franchise that put them on the map are Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette. A group of younger actors that will help jump start the body count have also signed on to the film.

"Scream has been such an integral part of Dimension's history, and I look forward to continuing the franchise," says Dimension Films chief Bob Weinstein, who is also co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.

Craven adds: "I am delighted to accept Bob Weinstein's offer to take the reins on a whole new chapter in Scream history. Working with Courteney, David and Neve was a blast ten years ago and I'm sure it will be again. And I can't wait to find the talent that will bring new blood to the screen as well. Kevin is right on his game with the new script - the characters and story crackle with energy and originality - to say nothing of some of the most hair-raising scares I've seen in a script since... well, since the original Scream series. Let me at it."

In other Craven news, his long-awaited horror project, My Soul to Take will finally hit theaters on October 29. Here's the synopsis:

In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer.

Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thierot) was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his dad’s terrifying crimes, he has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that’s returned, he must face an evil that won’t rest…until it finishes the job it began the day he was born.

I for one cannot wait for both Scream 4 and My Soul to Take. I am a big fan of Williamson's work, most noteably his contributions to the Scream films, I Know What You Did Last Summer and most recently, the CW Vampire Diaries. What I would give for a role in Scream 4. The first one came out when I was in high school, so this was a film that definitely spoke to me growing up. This was a film all my friends talked about while we re-enacted our favorite parts (without knives, of course). Since the Scream films poked fun at horror films and their sequels, I hope this will be a jab at the recent horror remake craze as well as the goreno scene that has been plaguing horror cinema as of late.
