On Friday, singer Janelle Monae released two songs from her forthcoming album, The ArchAndroid. One being the fierce, fast-paced 'Tightrope' feat. big Boi and another track called 'Cold War.' Cold War reminds me alot of Gnarls Barkley (which is of course not a bad thing) I love GB and the alien known to everyone as Janelle. Can't wait for this album to drop.
Here is what Monae had to say about 'Cold War' via her website, which carries a powerful message:
"Cold War" packs a powerful message that not only demonstrate her rich musical inspiration but also her calling to incite a movement. "While listening to "Cold War," you may feel obligated or inclined to find your purpose. You may want to form a huge tribe to help fight against the many things that work against you being your true self, just the way you were uniquely designed. You may even begin to dance while thinking, with a furrowed brow. You may begin to feel an increased responsibility to helping others free themselves from depravity."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Check out 'Tightrope ft. Big Boi below as well...
