In order to boost sales of her latest album, R&B diva Mary J. Blige is re-release her latest album Stronger With Each Tear overseas and plans to take risks beyond her hip hop/soul sound we've all become accustomed to.
Mary has recorded a new version of the album cut “Each Tear”, with popular Australian singer Vanessa Amorosi. The video was shot in L.A. last week and will be premiering as soons as all the editing is done. Over in the States 'Tonight' is slated to be the next single.
Blige has also recorded a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic “Stairway to Heaven” which was produced by Ron Fair and features Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker on drums, American Idol judge Randy Jackson doing whatever he does when he's not talking about his dawgs, Orianthi on guitar and rock veteran Steve Vai.
Another track on the album will be “Whole Lotta Love” which was produced by the very busy RedOne. The international edition of Stronger With Each Tear is set to be released on March 15.
I love Mary's new album. Kitchen is a song I have on constant repeat. I like the fact that mary is looking to branch out to a larger audience. She is truly talented, but I'm not so sure about the RedOne collaboration. I'll just have to wait and hear the song before I pass judgement because besides Gaga, I have yet to hear a really good song sung by another artist using a RedOne Beat besides the magic he creates with her.
