
After dropping a gazillion EP's, Janelle Monae is finally releasing her highly-anticipated debut titled, The Arch Android.
The first single, titled 'Tightrope' features Big Boi from Outkast and look for the self-proclaimed alien from outer space's album to drop on May 18 via Bad Boy Records/Wondaland Arts Society. As soon as the song drops and a video, I will definitely have it on the blog.
Some facts you need to know about Janelle's upcoming cd:
"Tightrope" will be available on Monáe’s web site on Friday, February 12 together with another new track, titled "Cold War." The tracks will be released via iTunes and other outlets on February 23.
A music video for "Tightrope" is currently in pre-production.
"The ArchAndroid" is labeled as an "emotion picture" that brought to you by Janelle Monáe and the Mad Minds of the Wondaland Arts Society in Atlanta.
The star-studded featured cast includes the legendary Big Boi of OutKast, renowned poet Saul Williams, psychedelic dance-punk troupe Of Montreal, punk prophets Deep Cotton,and the Wondaland Arch Orchestra.
The album was recorded at Wondaland Studios in Atlanta, but written all over the world, including Moscow, Prague, Istanbul, Berlin, Amsterdam, New York, and the "Palace of the Dogs."
"The ArchAndroid" was inspired not only by "the energy of these places, but by such revolutionary musicians and artistic visionaries" as Salvador Dalí, Walt Disney, OutKast, Stevie Wonder, Octavia Butler, David Bowie, Andy Warhol, and John Williams.
The album was Executive Produced by Nate Wonder, Chuck Lightning, Janelle Monáe, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, with Co-Executive Production from Big Boi of OutKast.
