Beyonce’s outspoken little sister Solange is causing quite a stir, making some off-the-cuff comments towards someone who some may feel is about Rihanna. Apparently, the concept of her video “I Decided” is very similar to RiRi's latest video, “Rude Boy”. The T is that director Melina, who worked on both videos is apparently recycling her ideas for other artists. Here is what Solange had to say:
"It’s flattering and frustrating when somebody does things u did before way later. Well….. It’s actually kind of funny.
I think there’s emotion behind it because if you have been considered, “weird, kooky,”ect. since u were a lil kid, & made fun of terribly, and then u see folk who hopped on the “weird train” now that it’s pop culture to be “different”…it’s innnteeerrreesttting!
Truth is everyone has been inspired by SOMEONE. That’s life."
Also over on Twitter, producer Diplo took some friendly shots at Rihanna claiming that she copied M.I.A.’s “Boyz” video.
I like RiRi's new video, and I've always said there's nothing new under the sun. Everything has been done and redone many times over. I will admit that I do feel the weirdness and the dark influences don't feel like the true essence of who Rihanna is. She's still young and experimenting with her style and sound. Maybe Rihanna was inspired by M.I.A. or maybe she just did what her handlers told her and went along with a concept.
If anyone whould be bitching about being swagga jacked it's Kelis. She was doing the weird colorful thing ten years before either of these chicks had a career. What do you guys think?
