This must be pick on Ke$ha week, because the celebs are coming harder for her than a whore getting her back blown out for a toke on the crack pipe. First Courtney Love has been yapping at the mouth saying she wants to save Ke$ha because she feels the image she is portraying in her music, videos, and on stage will eventually lead her to disaster (this of course is the pot calling the kettle beige).
Now indie electro artist Uffie is accusing Ke$ha of swagger-jackin', and came for her about it twice on Twitter.
Here's the first tweet which was posted over a week ago: “Going to wipe the floor with a certain knock off the year…”.
Then just moments ago Uffie tweeted out This Link followed by the question “Thoughts anyone?”.
The article she tweeted was a very biased and negative opinion piece from a college newspaper The Maine Campus. Contained in the story were quotes like:
“Ke$ha is the worst thing about the music industry…”, “…there is an insufferable dollar sign in her name so that no one gets confused — she exists solely to make rich people even more money.”.
Oh wait, there's more: “She is a trying-too-hard Lady Gaga with gaudy make-up and clothes that could be found in any trashy party-girl’s closet. That would be forgivable if she didn’t have such a ditzy, self-deprecating attitude. She is a women’s studies major’s worst nightmare.”.
“Her hit single “Tik Tok” is a blatant, copyright-infringing knock-off of a song written two years ago by the truly unique artists Uffie and Justice.”.
I see nothing wrong with Ke$ha's style, who went on Wendy Williams (after Wendy called her style a mess) and called her fashion trash can chic. I had heard of Uffie a couple of years ago when she came out with the song, 'Pop the Glock.' The song was actually hot, and Uffie was the first to come out with the sing-songy rap style over a DIY electro beat. this was all around the time when M.I.A. first emerged on the scene. But unfortunately, sometimes, someone can come out with a style and be so original, that when another person comes out with the same style (but adds that X factor) they emerge as the bigger star which is understandable why the originator would be pissed off. It makes sense why Beyonce has Amerie's career and Rihanna has Kelis'. It's been known for years that mainstream artists bite from smaller ones because they have the coins to get away with it. While the style of sing songy rap is similar, their musical style is completely different. Uffie's music is more edgier and indie based, while Ke$ha's music is more pop. What do you guys think?
