RYAN TEDDER BLAMES TIMBERLAKE, BEYONCE AND GAGA FOR 'ECHO' FLOP

OneRepublic lead singer/producer Ryan Tedder believes he is the Oracle and has figured out why Leona Lewis' new album has flopped faster than you can say Heidi Montag. if you all have been paying attention (which I'm sure most haven't), leona's second cd, 'Echo' never made it into the top 10.

“In the US, unless you’re Justin Timberlake or Beyoncé, you cannot put out a song and not be in the country when it comes out,” Tedder told Digital Spy.

“Leona was gone for six weeks when ‘Happy’ came out because she was promoting the record in other countries – it wasn’t her fault; she just couldn’t be two places in once.

“I had radio stations telling me that they thought ‘Happy’ was the single biggest ballad they’d come across in ten years, but that if Leona didn’t come over here and promote it, it was going to fall. On top of that, America’s consumed with Lady GaGa and dance music right now, so it’s not the best time for ballads anyway”, he said. “When everything on the radio is blasting out at 120 bpm, a song like ‘Happy’ almost sounds out-of-place.”

Tedder is currently in the studio working on new music for Katy Perry and Jennifer Hudson's sophomore albums.

Leona has been on some of the biggest shows on television promoting the hell out of the record, but truth be told, no one cares. It's funny how he can diss Beyonce, when in fact he produced her hit song, 'Halo.' I think maybe Ryan needs to realize that with so many hits under his belt, all them songs are starting to sound alike. Remember a few months back when he and Kelly Clarkson got into it because fans were saying Kelly bit off of Beyonce with 'Already Gone?' I still don't believe those songs sound anything alike. It's funny how those same people don't like to talk about the fact that Beyonce's been swagger-jackin' people for years. Amerie, Kylie Minogue, even Lady Gaga. Here's what he needs to realize. I've never been a fan of schmalzy people like Leona, because she fits in the same category as a Celine Dion. Amazing voice, but no personality. In this era of music, you have to be a triple threat. You also have to have something to say in your music. Even though she won on a competition show, it doesn't feel like Leona has any input in the music she does. She's become a studio creation instead of someone who takes the time in the studio to have control of their vision like Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake. It's not going to cut it by having a beautiful face and gorgeous vocals. If that was the case, Deborah Cox would have Whitney's career (before the drugs). At the end of the day standing still and singing is not going to get people interested in buying your music and seeing you live. If that was the way the insustry worked, then Mariah wouldn't need to put out two remix albums of 'Memoirs of an imperfect Angel.'
