This fight has become more of a mess than the wrestling match over Ted Kennedy's senate seat. There have been so many rumors regarding who will be replacing Simon Cowell once he leave American Idol ofter this season. I've heard everyone from Jamie Foxx, Elton John and Matthew Knowles. Now Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone has thrown his hat in the ring, even going as far as launching a Facebook campaign to replace Simon Cowell as judge on American Idol.
Says Ciccone: "Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol, and who better to replace him than Christopher Ciccone? With 25 years in the music business, Christopher knows all too well what it takes to be a Pop Star, and with his infamous 'Ciccone Tongue' he won't be afraid to speak his mind!"
With him being the brother of a famous global superstar, that might be a good look for the series which in my opinion has been on it's last legs since the season with Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia. But that's it. if we're going to hire someone because you think it will increase the chance that Madonna will show up, that's a bad idea. I actually thought he was an interior designer, since I saw him guest judge on that horrible Bravo interior decorating series. The only music experience I am aware of with Christopher is him directing his sisters concerts back in the day (before she came ot her senses and hired Jamie King)and most recently he directed Ari Gold's video for 'I Can Forgive You,' which is number 1 on LOGO. Not too fond of the video, but I love Ari Gold so I can forgive him (pun intended). f they want to save Idol, why not hire a musician who understands music. maybe a mother hen figure who can be constructive (like choreographer Mia Michaels) but give it in a nurturing way (Paula minus the crazy). Have a woman replace Simon and I don't mean annoying Kara or boring ass Ellen. I think they're so fucused on duplicating what Simon brought to the show instead of breathing new life into a dying series.
