FOOTBALL, HOT GUYS AND JOCKSTRAPS (OH MY!)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Is SPIKE TV trying to lure the gay boys to their channel? I've seen a few programs on SPIKE (Scream Awards, Ultimate Fighter and Blade: The Series before it got cancelled), but SPIKE was never a channel worth watching (like TNT or USA) until now. Their lineup never consisted of original programming. Just alot of old reruns and action films edited with commercials. I've always seen SPIKE as a channel with potential to compete on the same level of other quality channels if they decided to get serious and add more original content. They might finally be on the right track with the new football comedy Blue Mountain State. The show stars Aquaman Alan Ritchson, and Smallville's Sam Jones III and is described as Friday Night Lights meets Porky's.

"The opening episode centers on rookie hazing and proves conclusively that yes, it is apparently all right to show men in skimpy jock straps on basic cable, from all angles. A nasty coach (the former football star Ed Marinaro, from 'Hill Street Blues'), an abusive team captain (Alan Ritchson) and the other usual suspects are all on hand."

I say the execs over at Spike need to create more original shows for guys who like guy shit so they can compete with TNT, TBS, USA and even FX. Blue Mountain State premieres tonight. Check out the trailer below...
