They seriously need to start doing background checks on the choreographers at So You Think You Can Dance. Shane Sparks, a judge on America's Best Dance Crew and a guest choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance?, was got his ass thrown in the slammer this morning for allegedly touching a child in an inappropriate place. The District Attorney's office in Los Angeles filed 9 counts of child molestation charges against Shane.
According to TMZ, this all allegedly went down in 1994. Shane has been accused of committing lewd acts upon an underage girl who was at least 10 years younger than him. The documents state Shane was born in 1969 (his Wikipedia bio says 1974), so he was 25 at the time. So the girl had to have been about 15 at the time or she could have been younger, depending on who you believe as far as his age goes.
Shane is currently being held on $590,000 bail.
This isn't the first time a SYTYCD choreographer has been accused of a sex crime. Salsa choreographer Alex Da Silva was arrested in April for allegedly raping 4 of his dance students.
So my question is, who will they have step in as a judge next month when America's Best Dance Crew comes back? I know Paula is currently unemployed, but me thinks Chris Hansen would be a safer choice.
