Björk - VESPERTINE (2001) Bjork has always been known for her screeching vocals, and her edgy electronica sound, but what I loved most about vespertine was that she hooked up with producing duo Matmos to create one of the most elegant, calm, and personal record of her career. matmos' genius was using a human beatboxer, bells, an antique music box, and an Icelandic choir to create such beautiful music that wasn't the standard overproduced stuff we've all become accustomed to.

Kanye West - 808S AND HEARTBREAK (2008) I was actually going to go with college Graduate because of the consistancy of hits and flawless lyrical content, but Kanye gets points for following his own star and creating something beyond the usual popping champagne, bustin' off your guns cliches.

Justin Timberlake - FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS (2006) As I have said in a previous story, I'm not a big fan of Justin Timberlake. For a long time, I denied myself the pleasure of enjoying his music, simply because he was not only from a boy band (and most don't think of boybanders of transitioning into cool pop stars), but when he left Janet to fend for herself as the vultures known as the media crucified her for Boob Gate at the Super Bowl, it had sealed the deal for me. I also mentioned that he has since apologized for not being there for her when the shit hit the fan. Well i will go on to admit (like an addict at AA) that I did buy FutuerSex/LoveSounds when it came out, because Sexyback was one of the most different (and irresistable songs to ever hit radio. it didn't hurt that the entire album was just as good. So JT, congratulations, you've officially made a fan out of me, and have officially become one of the most musically consistant pops stars of the decade.

Kanye West - GRADUATION (2007) I know I was just saying that I had to make a choice of which album from kanye I liked better. Then i realized that this is my blog and I could post (and like) whatever the hell I wanted. graduation was one of his most consistant records, where every song was worth a listen. It's been a long time where I can actually say I listened to a hip hop album all the way through and when the album was over I wanted to hear more. It also didn't hurt that Kanye introduced hip hop heads to Daft Punk when he sampled them with his "Stronger" track.

Amy Winehouse - BACK TO BLACK (2007) Let's take a moment to get past all the tabloid mess surrounding Amy's personal life, shall we? i want to take you back to a time when people were excited about her music. mark Ronson took the vibe of 50's girl groups and 60's soul, and gave it a hip hop edge. It didn't hurt that you felt every word Winehouse sang through your speakers, giving us something music lovers hadn't felt in quite a while. Goosebumps. we can also say that if there wasn't for Amy Winehouse, there wouldn't be other chicks with a left-of-center vibe like Lady Gaga and Lily Allen for us to enjoy. Now I'm just hoping she can get it together and give us some of the music we've been hungry for.

Shiny Toy Guns – WE ARE PILOTS (2006)

Lady Gaga - THE FAME MONSTER (2009) Gaga has officially become one of the hardest working women in the music business. Where on her first full-length, Gaga chanted and cooed about wanting fame, achieving fame, and basking in it. on the fame monster, which is the yang to The Fame's ying, Gaga unleashes her inner monster. In this era of vampires and werewolves, I can't say that's a bad thing.

Goldfrapp – SUPERNATURE (2005) While previous album Black Cherry turned them from a thinking electro act into a force to be reckoned with, Supernature is the record that truly turned Alison Golfrapp into a full-on sex symbol. It didn't hurt that they took a huge risk, mixing genres such as electro-pop and disco, electro-clash and dance, with a dash of seventies classic rock sensibilities with winning results. Their follow-up after Supernature was a huge disappointment on all accounts, so here's to Goldfrapp getting back into the studio and giving us something a little more unexpected.
