Well if his record label has anything to do with it he won't be. After rumors began swirling via the website 24hourhiphop over the weekend which alleged that rapper Asher Roth was going to come out of the closet, the tweets began spreading faster than a killed Lohan career. Shortly after the spread, the EVP of Roth's record label deaded the rumors:
"Asher Roth is not gay, and is not scheduled to be interviewed on the E! Channel. Furthermore, Asher has not been dropped from SRC Records, and is a top priority at the label after having sold over a million copies his "I Love College" single. Asher is currently working on his next album for SRC."
I actually liked Asher's debut cd, and he is cute. I never looked at Asher as having any gay tendencies (like I look at about 85% of thew closeted rappers in the industry). I could be wrong, though (although it's rare that happens). Maybe my gaydar needs to go back into the shop. Or maybe this could all be a ploy set up by his label to get the gays interested in his music, because he's basically a one-hit wonder. If anyone who reads this blog (which I know quite a few of my openly gay rapper bredren do read the Kris Avalon blog), hit me up with some "T" if you have seen Asher out and about doing them thangs we homos like to do when the red light turns on and you had a couple dranks. Before I sign off with this story, my favorite comment comes from a guy named Steve Denver who pretty much summed it up on the comment board:
Brittany Murphy is dead and Asher Roth is not gay. What a shitty Monday.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
