KRIS AVALON'S NUMBER 4 HORROR PICK IS...

A hot little film called HELLBENT. Called the first ever gay slasher film, HellBent is a film from writer/director Paul Etheredge-Ouzts and Joseph Wolf, the co-creator of such horror classics as Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Taking place at the famed West Hollywood Halloween Carnival, there is a serial killer on the loose. A group of four gay friends will have to fight for their lives to make it through a night where flamboyant costumes, beautiful people, drugs, music, dancing and sex are everywhere. While it came off to me as Queer As Folk meets Halloween, what I would like in the future should someone decide to make another gay horror film is make it more serious like Midnight Meat Train and Friday the 13th instead of always equating gay films with comedy. We can be serious too, you know. otherwise, I'd say one of the first gay horror films that has good writing, good kills, and was shot well.
