FINALLY THE BLACK GAY YOUTH HAVE A SHOW FOR THEM
I am loving this, and I really believe anyone who is young, gay, and (black 0r latino) should check out this View-style reality series. Meet The Hot Boyz, a well-produced and entertaining YouTube-based reality series follows six nightlife celebrities in New York City and talks about many of the topics I often bring up on this blog (in between all the celebrity bullshit), such as masculinity, homophobia, and drug abuse. Executive Producer Carlos King is really hoping to develop the web series into television. If he does, I would definitely love to audition for a spot on this show.
King spoke to Rod 2.0 and this is what he had to say: "I want young gay men to be able to look at the show and see a representation of themselves, a reflection of their world. I want the mainstream community to see a slight overview of how gay black men live their lives."
I would say it's about time. As someone who is apart of the film and television world, and also has his own film equipment, I have to say it's cool to see something like this on YouTube. it's unfortunate we don't have this kind of representation on national television, but I guess the more noise is made about this show, hopefully some avant-garde producer will get some cojones and bring this series to television.
