First we get news that Bravo wants to do a show about gay guys doing it up in the Big Apple like their Real Housewives series. Now comes word that the popular series The L Word will get a real-life makeover: SHOWTIME has greenlit nine episodes of "The Real L Word: Los Angeles," "The show will follow six lesbians in Los Angeles as they go about their lives -- a lesbian answer to Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise. Project is dependent on casting, the net said; if all goes as planned, "The Real L Word" would debut sometime next year." The people behind the series is none other than "L Word" creator Ilene Chaiken and reality producers Magical Elves ("Top Chef").
With all the love we gays are getting in the TV realm lately, could there be a "Real Queer as Folk" not too far behind? Ever since the L Word went off the air, we haven't seen much gay representation on American TV. It gets tedius after a while watching my DVD collections of QAF, Dante's Cove and Noah's Arc (which i would love to see an all gay black reality show maybe set in Atlanta or if they did it in New York, I would hope they would do a multiethnic cast).
