“Love is unconditional and God created Pedro for a reason” – sister Mily Zamora to the audience after a screening Sunday night of the film Pedro at the Colony Theater.

About 400 attended Sunday night’s screening of Pedro, the new MTV film about Miami AIDS activist Pedro Zamora, who died just after appearing on the network’s reality program, The Real World, in 1994.

The screening was sponsored by the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. This is a film EVERYONE must see. I remember as a kid watching The Real World and seeing Pedro on television was a huge milestone for many people, including myself. Pedro paved the way for many gay men and women who appeared on the shows years later. Pedro will be simulcast at 8 p.m. April 1 on MTV, MTV TR3S, mtvU and LOGO with an introduction by former President Bill Clinton. It will be released June 9 on DVD.
