HEROES TO RETURN FOR A FOURTH SEASON

Despite a ratings decline this season, NBC plans to bring back "Heroes" for a fourth season, said entertainment president Angela Bromstad.

The Hollywood Reporter says the network plans to order 18-20 episodes of the show for next season. That's fewer hours than "Heroes" first or current third season (which each had orders of at least 23 episodes), with season two having been cut short due to the writers strike.

For all its headline-making audience erosion, "Heroes" is still tied with NBC's "The Office" as the network's top-rated series among adults 18-49 this season. "Heroes" also still performs well internationally.

The network has privately discussed setting a series end date for "Heroes," which would followed the creative model used with critical success by ABC's "Lost," SCI FI's "Battlestar Galactica" and FX's "The Shield." But even if NBC ever made such a move, Bromstad said, they wouldn't want to make next season the conclusion.

I actually couldn't agree more with the end date for Heroes. Lost first came up wit hthe idea, and the current season is the best season by far. heroes in my opinion has overstayed it's welcome. I can smell the arrogance all over that show. The past season and a half has been a huge disappointment, but the Fugitives arc has started to pick up some steam. I'm even getting sick of looking at Milo Ventimiglia's Mary Jo Buttafuoco side lip and Hayden Panatroll's annoying ass. Even Syler's getting on my fucking nerves. The sooner you set an end date on this show, the better it is for someone like me who has invested so much time in a show that has left me with the PG equivalent of blue balls.

Once upon a time, Heroes was a great show - but as often happens, it started believing its own hype, started smelling itself.
IMHO the whole time travel storyline killed the fan base. it was too much to follow - too many characters with too many abilities to keep straight. Even though I followed it, it was too convoluted and ran too far away from the original premise of the show - ordinary people with extrodinary abilities. Well, the show itself has an ability that none of the characters has; implosion.

Yes - by all means, give it an end date - PLEASE!!! Pull the plug and put it out of our misery!! Oh yeah, and while I'm ranting - why aren't there any gay characters on the show? Or would their abilities be too much for tv?????

You know, I was thinking the same thing. Gay boys are HUGE genre geeks as well. Hell, I'm one of them. I love comic books, comic book movies, and superherolore yet the LGBT community is continually overlooked. Hopefully that will change with the upcoming gay superhero series Stan Lee is currently working to get on television. I say if we can get X Men to go gay, why not Heroes? I guess like the lack of blacks on NBC, the only gay ones they want on TV would be the non-threatening Will & Grace types.
